Lions & Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Chinese Medicine Charity Foundation (CMCF) held an Appreciation Certificates Presentation Ceremony on 30 November 2024. The event aimed to recognise members from Lions Clubs International District 303 - Hong Kong & Macao, China (Lions D303) for their dedicated efforts in raising funds to support the CMCF.
Professor Li Min, Executive Associate Dean of Chinese Medicine, welcomed the Lions members and expressed her gratitude for the long-standing support of Lions D303 for CMCF’s work. Dr. Lam Hoi Ham, JP, Vice-Chairman of CMCF, shared the history and purpose behind the establishment of the CMCF with the attendees, encouraging more Lions members to join the fundraising efforts to ensure that more elderly individuals can access to affordable and quality Chinese medicine and healthcare services.
The fundraising ambassadors who were awarded the appreciation certificates included Dr. Lam Hoi Ham; Lion Teresa Mann, Director of CMCF (accepted by a representative); Lion Cheung Man Tim, Director of CMCF and Chairman of the Fundraising Ambassador Initiative; Lion Lau Mei Kei, Vice-Chair of the Fundraising Ambassador Initiative; Lion Henry Wong, Vice-Chair of the Fundraising Ambassador Initiative; Lion Leung Fung Wah; Lion Miranda Tseung; Lion Yeung Chun Wing; Lion Angela Yuen Sau Ling and Lion Patrick Chan (accepted by a representative).
After the ceremony, the School of Chinese Medicine organised a special tour of the Chinese Medicine Museum and clinics, providing an opportunity for the Lions members to deepen their understanding of the Chinese medicine culture and the clinical services offered by the School.
To date, the “Privilege Scheme of Chinese Medicine Service for Elderly” of CMFC has issued 5,468 cards and medical coupons, amounting to over HKD 9 million, to eligible elders which has subsidised approximately 65,000 visits in total. Through the ceremony, CMCF not only conveyed its sincere gratitude to the Lions members but also highlighted the community’s dedication to caring for the elderly.
